Craftsmanship isn’t something I learned later in life—it’s how I was raised.
My father was a home builder, so I grew up surrounded by lumber, tools, and job sites. Building was simply part of everyday life. My first “project” happened in first grade, when I surprised my parents by making Easter baskets out of discarded pine 2x4s—cut, nailed, and painted entirely by hand.
By grade school I was already comfortable with tools, and by fourth grade I was framing walls 16 inches on center and running a table saw.
As a kid, I built forts. Over time, those forts turned into real structures—walls, basements, garages converted into living spaces, kitchens remodeled, roofs and siding installed, additions framed, electrical sub-panels added, and bathrooms plumbed.
Level, plumb, and square weren’t just construction terms; they were second nature. Building and creating has always been part of who I am.
For many years, construction wasn’t my career—it was simply what I did for family and friends. From 2010 to 2020, I served full-time in ministry. When COVID abruptly changed that season of life, I needed to provide for my family. A put up few flyers at a local coffee shop and brought Babb Custom Deck & Fence to life.
From day one, our focus has never wavered: quality without compromise. We don’t cut corners and we don’t rush jobs. We don’t aim to be the cheapest—we aim to be the best.
I regularly remind our crew that no one remembers how fast a project was completed, but everyone remembers the craftsmanship. True quality takes time, skill, and intention, and our work is built to endure—so our clients have something they can be proud of for years to come.
I build because I want to. I love taking what a client envisions and bringing it into reality with precision and care. We’ve been fortunate to work with homeowners who value quality as much as we do, and that has shaped who we are as a company.
One of my greatest blessings is that years ago I worked side by side with my father—and today, I get to work side by side with my son. God willing, I’ll pass along the same carpentry lessons, values, and pride in craftsmanship that were passed down to me.
